They do exactly the same thing in almost exactly the same way. The only difference you might notice is that Logic doesn't have multi windows like Cubase does so may suit a laptop screen slightly better. I wouldn't pay $200 just for that difference though.
get logic , it sounds better
JOKE ! - but I prefer it - its all about the work flow,
Stick to Cubase. Logic's too expensive just for a similar DAW.
Word on the street is that Cubase is NOT optimized for OSX and performs better on Windows.
Even on a bootcamped Mac running Windows
Logic is the most effecient Mac DAW, for using virtual effects and instruments.
At $199 from the app store Logic is least expensive full featured Mac DAW, cheaper than the full commercial license for Reaper!
Logic has screen sets though- on a small laptop you can move between windows using them much quicker.
I've been using Logic since it came out and was a beta-tester for several years so I am always going to use Logic if I can (I use Cubase/Nuendo/Protools/Reaper as well)
If the OP has Cubase already and knows how to use it then no real reason to change.
I think Logic is better at arrangement though.
If doing a lot of multi-track drum editing then look at Protools.
screensets absolutely! easy as pie, full screen editing. love them. love also that unlike cubase you dont need to save, logic screensets just remember their state. (at the time i switched from cubase you had to save a layout anyways)
also once you change the mouse settings you get the right-click cubase-style tool-select which i like.
I miss drum map tho :(
