holy cack. that actually makes me look good. :D
I love TGP. Always eradicates any possible feelings of guilt :)
Wow! Surprised he had time to even plug them in and play.
If only all the lists distilled down to a small bundle of choices, that would save me the trouble of even attempting the search.
I've had a total of six amps including my Smokey.
Strangely I don't feel particularly inadequate, especially as two of them are in custom finishes and are unique designs from small builders. Yay me etc.
I have too many amps. It's a bit silly really, but I can't be bothered to keep bumping the ones I don't really use.
One lives in my car on a permanent basis. Peavey VT Deuce. the car is an old-ish Landy, and needs some weight in the back to smooth out the suspension. Works a treat.
Hurricane
Nomad
Stiletto Deuce
Attax 80
Peavey.
All of them are amazing, though I don't use them all.
I do have a wish for something hand wired and 30 watts-ish, with reverb, or a Lone star special, though.
I think this will stop haunting me when I play the hurricane in a proper venue though, because it will prove it can keep up with the drummer. Hopefully.
I've had 10 amps I think. Only 4 proper gigging ones though. I really fancy trying a Mesa Express 25, and I'd love a Romany Plus at some point but I've never yearned for amps like I do guitars. I think it's because guitars feel such a personal thing, while I see amps as much more of a tool, rightly or wrongly
I honestly wonder what some of these TGP guys are looking for. My guess is that whatever it is is not to be found in an amplifier.
I've owned quite a lot of amps, I used to buy broken vintage ones and sort-of collect them for a bit before they became expensive, but even then I'm not sure I've had as many as that TGP chap. And if you only count the ones I've actually used for making music with, really not many at all over twenty-five years... maybe twenty, but I doubt even that.
I also see amps as more of a tool, or as a box to make things louder with knobs on. Of course there are some that suit me more than others, and a few I really don't like at all, but if it's loud enough and has usable controls it will do fine really.
