Two zone Alesis 8" snare
I just bought a used electronic drum set that included an Alesis 8" two-zone head. I can't get the second zone to sound with a rimshot.
have actually gone the next step and upgraded the head (using the video on hellfiredrums.com, January 2010 archive) to a Billy Blast mesh head. During the upgrade, I saw and verified the piezo chip on the bottom section of the drum. When I could not get it to fire, I actually replaced the Piezo Element with a new one from Radio Shack. If I hit the bottom of the drum really hard, it occasionally fires the rimshot, but it doesn't fire every time and t can never get it to fire when hitting the drum rim.
I am using this drum with a Yamaha DTX Version 2.0 Drum Trigger Module. Is there some setting adjustment to increase the sensitivity enough to get it to fire from the rim?
I can't help with your problem sorry, but was wondering where you got the Billy Blast mesh head from?
I can't find them anywhere in the UK, so am guessing import would be the only option...
Good luck with sorting your snare out.
Bill Blast Heads
You can get the BillBlast heads at:
The 8" heads are $10-$15 US. They are very light, so shipping costs should be nominal.
I don't know which drum you looking to change, but there is a great video for the Alesis (Medeli) snare at:
My only caveat, is be delicate with the short, very fine wires from the piezos.
Like theimageofall, I don't really know the right setup or adjustment to do for you to make it sound a rimshot, honestly I haven't actually added snares on my e-drums yet. Anyways, there are a lot of members here that could possibly help you out.
