Did have exactly that but ut meant having a 25w speaker in a 50w amp - although wswitched down to 5w was always worried - and its a pain carrying an extra cab around

Another hijack.
Any good (and cheap) alternatives to EV 12Ls.
Getting a bit tired of the Celestion speakers in my Marshall 1936 cabs.
They are probably the only part in my signal chain I haven't changed in the last
10 years and probably why I still get the same kind of tone, no matter what I put in

a set of EVM12s came up on ebay last week and only went for about £40 ea. including postage, so used they can be had quite reasonably. I nearly bought them myself. There's EVM12M, EVM12L, and EVM12S. The differences are debatable (see ad nauseam posts on The Gear Page).

Eminence Commonwealth says it's close but has nothing like the frequency response. Fane Studio 12L is the closest but not very cheap, maybe £100 new. try and find a used one. Also Fane Medusa 150C, but they are even more expensive.

EVM are heavy duty cast frame speakers and therefore can't really be cloned cheaply. Eminence Swamp Thang is pretty good on a budget, and the best i could find cheaply.
