Default Lana Del Rey - Born To Die

Have been listening to this album pretty much non stop since it came out, and I conclude it is my favourite album this year so far, the Girl is without a shodow of doubt in the top five most beautiful alive, and her voice is incredible....guitar wise, it's no rocker, but the tones on it are beautiful,it's as though Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti got together to write it as a soundtrack.....If you aint heard it, i urge you to have a listen....

Same position here - in the car for months on repeat. It really is a great album. I've tried playing a few songs on the guitar, and, as yet, haven't been able to really do any of the songs justice. That may be due to my lack of skill though

I would definitely recommend everyone to have a listen. Not to everyone's taste, but you might be surprised by it.

I really like it and am not sure why she has taken so much stick. I did realise that due to the big reverby guitars I was confusing her with Anna Calvi for a while.

Total one trick pony, songs are pretty interchangeable, still, if you like that one trick then it's all good.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo.....Don't say that! Listen to the Lizzie Grant album she released a while back and you can hear the potential, the album is a bit samey in a themed way, but no diferent to Amy's Back to Black was, Born to Die is so well recorded and compiled, I think I'm in love with her slightly, I guess as I've been told by mates in work, if she looked like Susan Boyle I'd never give it a second listen..

Agreed, I loved Video Games, but I was really disappointed when I realised that pretty much every other other song on the album sounded very much the same dynamically, in vocal delivery and in arrangement - except not as good as Video Games. I was a bit gutted. Also, what initially struck me as a distinctive and interesting vocal style soon began to grate to the point where I wondered if she had in fact, suffered a stroke.

Still, she's absolutely beautiful, makes for a good pop star with an interesting image, and at least it's slightly different to whatever else is kicking around at the moment. It lacks a rap section too, so it's got that going for it.

I should probably get it, although I loved Video Games and then heard another song off it (don't know the title) which sounded basically exactly the same but with different words. So I know what to expect about it all being a bit formulaic.

I don't think the very well-publicised name change has done her any favours either. Lizzie Grant to "Lana Del Rey"... come on - it just sounds silly and pretentious. Though I accept, "Video Games, by Lizzie Grant" may not have had quite the same impact. (Wrongly of course, but perception is important.)

Lana, Del & Ray actually sounds like a Mike Leigh film.

Got the album now - it's pretty good actually, and less samey than I thought it might be. The track I'd heard before - other than Video Games - was Summertime Sadness, which is one of the closest sounding.
