    Heard some awesome stuff on holiday recently in our morning coffee stop.

    Waiter said it was James Brown (similar horn stabs & riffs), but it wasn't, it was a compilation.

    Hit me (on the one) with your suggestions ........

    Not really what you are looking for but the Back to Mine compilation by Carl Cox is some funky disco. Really good.

    I can't see everything above on my ipad but if if it's not already been suggested check out Fred Wesley and the J.B's, if it sounded like James Brown but wasn't could have well been his band who did loads under their own (and various other) names. James Brown used to even play the organ for them.....
