I have on occasions backed a singer on acoustic guitar, this woman had a friend who was an expert singer and helped her a lot. The friend was also a reliable rhythm player, but suffered from ill health for a while and sadly passed away recently. I had met her a few times and she was a lovely person.

There's an acoustic night every month in a nearby community centre, at which the 3 of us had performed for the usual 3-song slot.

So tonight, the first-mentioned singer, with me and another mutual friend will be doing 3 songs that Penny very much liked, as a kind of tribute to her.

Saturday night - the New Bell in Great Barr. One of those restaurant/pubs that doesn't normally have bands so not quite sure why we are there. Oh well, first full sets in a while ( did one hour at the beer fest fortnight ago).

I have two memories of Southam:

My brother and his family lived there for a while, vaguely remember their house.Their son was a toddler then and he's just had his 30th birthday.

I went on a residential course there. In what I think was a seminary?

Playing a 21st birthday in Colchester tomorrow. Everyone's driving so less chance of the singer drinking too much, making a twat of himself, embarrassing us and making me want to headbutt his face.

'Twas pretty good. The audience was quite small for a Friday Night, but we entertained them well enough, and they've asked us back next month.
