Back to function band mode for us this weekend. A Sports and Social club's annual dinner/dance/awards shindig.

So we'll be rolling out the max-cheese party set...and tucking into the food during the break

Not that far from home either, and decent cash* as well. Hurrah!

*which I've already spent of course

Pub gig in Great Barr tonight.

Hoping that energy and enthusiasm will emerge from some mystical place by 9pm.

More pub rock for me this weekend.

'Playback' at The Brickmakers Arms in Balsall Common on Saturday night.

It'll be our super slimmed down power trio line-up....and I've got my new MXR Hendrix Anniversary Univibe Pedal

Pub gig saturday night, unsure why they need a band to attract punters this time of year.

Basically my local pub, I have to take Eric JrJr to the scout hut next door first.

We agreed this gig on the basis we would have to use a dep keyboardist and a dep drummer and did a couple of rehearsals with them. All fine. Last night the dep drummer pulls out. This gig is booked via the agency that gets most of our gigs now so we don't want to cancel at 2 days notice. Is there a drummer who could play the set without a rehearsal? Why, yes our old drummer who walked out after a blazing row in January. Amazingly he has agreed to do it. Now, singer and me okay terms with him, keyboard player he doesn't know them , bass player probably passable relationship.

So, every chance it will be a shoddily performed set followed by a fist fight between the drummer and the sax player.

Cracking gig that. Proper old pub with "almost" enough room for us (good thing we did this one as a three piece).

Even our unrehearsed attempt of that Slade Xmas song went down a storm.

Plus it took me longer to load the car than to actually drive home so all good!

House party for a 50th birthday tonight. Semi acoustic set, no drums. Went down a storm, particularly te seasonal Slade & Pogues. And £100 for my trouble

No fighting and wasn't too shoddy!
