Have you thought about an old silverface vibrochamp ?, I bought one and never looked back, no effects like the xd, but nice tone

I would go for the sf vibrochamp any day over the xd series!

I have not played a sF vibrochamp either, but have tried lots of other Fender amps and its the vibro champ xd which seems to "fit" my style and tone preference.Liked the super champ too but its way too loud!

I know a lot of people will say things about Chinese built etc etc but I bought a Bugera V5 at the start of the year and am astonished at the quality of the build and the sound. I bought mine new from Thomanns Online Superstore for £130 including the £10 for the postage to the UK from Germany. The Bugera El84 and ECC83 valves it comes with are ok but nothing special and tend to give it a lack of higher end but If you put in a set of JJ's for less than £25 it will really open this amp up. At the moment I am using a Gold Lion re-issue EL84 and a years old Mullard I took out of an old Carlsbro head I used to have and this amp sounds great at either 0.1W, 1.0W or 5W either through the built in 8" speaker or through my Celestion 2x12 closed back cab. It has all but made my BillM modded Fender BJr' redundant and I cannot give it higher praise than that. For the guitarist playing blues/classic rock at home it can't be beat without spending thousands for a custom made hand wired amp.
