Default Whatever happened to all those Wal basses?

Watching TOTP2 and Imagination came on using a lovely Wal fretless. That reminded me: in the 80s almost everyone used Wal basses! Well, those that didn't use Aria SBs anyway..so where are they all?You never see them now and you rarely see them up for sale?

    Where da Wal at?

My old bass player Nigel had one.
    Very nice.

And no-one sells them... because they are so damn good!

I have had a single 5 minute go on one. I was at school and the visiting bass player (hired for the school big band as no-one at school played well enough at the time) had one. a 4 string fretted.

I knew sweet FA about bass construction then - but I remember it being easy to play, sounding lovely (old Dan Armstrong valve amp) and being bastard heavy!! (I was about 14 though - so it might have been light for an adult!)

I think the bloke in Tool uses one? Justin Chamberlin is it? Nice sound indeed.
