    Default Lucinda Williams

    Any fans here?

I recently bought Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. I've listened to it over ten times, and each time it seems to get better and better. It's one of the most lyrically inspired americana records I've heard in a long time. And if anybody can hazard a guess at what tuning most of the slide guitar is in, I'd like to know.

I'd also recommend picking up a copy of her live at The Filmore. It's a two disc set, with Williams letting it rip on the vocals, while Doug Pettibone rips it up on the solos. Compelling listening.

I can't believe I passed up a chance to see her play live a few years back. Dumbass..

I've only got a couple of tracks of her's but I know I should get more. Bob Harris plays a lot (well he used to when I was awake at that time of night on a Saturday to listen) so I guess I've heard a few tracks that way...and I think I saw her at the Cambridge Folk Fest a number of years ago....or did I dream that?

Good recommendation! I just listened to about ten of his tracks, each one a blinder.

I'll have to try and find some of his records in my local record shack.

How bizarre. I've had Lake Charles going round my head all morning and then I notice this thread at the top of the page. Haven't got much of her stuff but what I do have is superb. Definitely requires further exploration!

Of the two I have, Essence.

While you're at it, check out Kathleen Edwards too - Back To Me and Failer in particular.

I was going to suggest Kathleen as well. Been listening to her latest one in the car this week.
