    Default Which image manipulation software?

So I'm after some software that needs to carry out a specific task and I'm not sure where to look - or even what to type into google.

I'd like to be able to take an image, expose small parts of it, maybe sort of de construct and reveal elements of it at different times, making it look like someone is painting the picture almost. This would be exported as some sort of movie file to be projected onto a big screen.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Cheers.

The program GIMP is excellent for photo editing. You could use it to cut bits off an image easily. Not sure aboit the movie file bit. I yhink in GIMP the closest you'd get would be an animated gif. - which wouldnt look nice.
The conductor said I could get my bookbag and run around the hallway with it.

GIMP is your best bet for free.

If you want to draw rather than tweak images you might want to try Inkscape which is a vector package.
