    Default Taking It live

    Hi,

I had lots of experience playing live but with basically just my guitar when i was younger.

Question Is i've been doing electronic tunes on my mac using soft synths and some hardware synths, just demos really but i want to look into starting giging this kind of style. I really dont have the first clue as to what i would need to do this as there are a lot of layers more than the people there would be to play them.

I guess i would need some kind of sequencer or something and maybe invest in a drum machine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    cheers

    Nick

I used to do similar thing and gig as a duo. I programmed the drums and keys and then I played guitar and the other guy did bass and vocals. Although we tried using a sequencer live is was deemed too dodgy so the programmed stuff was recorded to minidisc, which is pretty bullet proof for gigging.

Minidisc supports track naming so you can see what your cueing up, you can't scratch the disk cos it's enclosed and the seek times are pretty quick. We only used a Yamaha domestic hi fi model but it never went wrong during the 100 odd gigs.
