Default I need help with the house music production process

I have been saving up for a macbook pro but for now i am at home on my pc with a demo version of Fl Studio. Since last year i have been trying to grasp some sort of understanding of how to produce a full song from the ground up. I am litterally a beginer and i dont know where else to go for support because in my area everyone is rock and hiphop. I know that there is always a kickdrum every 4 down beats or something and im not even sure if that's correct. I can make a drum sample but when i listen to other producers songs, i never hear it as much and the melody. Can someone just help me grasp an understanding for someone who doesnt know what they're doing but wants to learn? thanks!

Maybe buy a House music sample cd where you have various elements like beats, bass, synth lines etc and throw a few things together to see how things work. By having the bits of music disected, you're in a position to get a good grounding on what makes thing tick in a standard House tune.

It's harder breaking down a full track but listening is always a good thing to be doing but you need to become 'more' than the average listener and develop an ear to look out for things you find inspiring and to try and work out how they might have been created.

It wont happen over night but I can't think of a better way to understand the basic elements than to have a sample cd where you have access to things like that. Don't be tempted to not try things for yourself but use the samples as a tool from which you can learn.

SIMPLE - DOWNLOAD A POPULAR HOUSE TRACK IN THE HOUSE SUB-GENRE YOU WANT TO DO. IMPORT IT INTO AN AUDIO TRACK ON YOUR SEQUENCER - COPY THE STRUCTURE

    2 classic drum loops

Kick on beats 1 and 3, closed hi hats or snare or claps on 2 and 4

Kick on every beat, and closed hi hats on the 16ths(should be a setting your DAW to get you down to 16ths view)

You have to remember, there is usually percussion used in the drum loops as well, and the song your listening to will have effects applied to it. So just go one step at a time. Do what Jim and Delphine suggested, and as Delphine said, experiment. If it doesn't work, its no sweat. Its a step towards knowing how it does work

    Best of luck
