Default Brown Eyed Girl - That Horrid Intro

One for the wedding bands guys this I reckon.

We've had Brown Eyed Girl requested for a party gig we've got coming up, and I just hate that intro.

How do you guys play it? I've been doing this...but it sounds cack...

    --7--8----10----8---7----|--12--13----15----13----12------- etc...
    --8-10----12---10---8---|--13--15----17----15----13-------
    ------------------------------|----------------------------------------
    ------------------------------|---------------------------------------
    ------------------------------|--------------------------------------
    ------------------------------|---------------------------------------

    (sorry about the weird spacing)

They're just Thirds over each chord...G, C and D. Sorry don't have time to tab it out now but if you look up how to play sixths on you tube you'll learn loads of great songs. It's a very valuable tool.

    drop the double stops.

just play the top string line (all at 12th fret, starting on 3rd string))

I do the first part on the G and B strings, starting on the 12th fret.

So, 12th fret both strings, then the next double stop I play is 14th fret on the G, 13th fret on the B, then I move that shape up two frets for the next one.

The second part of it, I play the same as you.

Playing it this way keeps it all around the 12th fret general area.

Thanks guys, I'll give those suggestions a go.

We're gigging it this Friday. It's a once only request so I'm just doing a buskers version after the intro as we're not planing on keeping it in the set, I just didn't like how that intro sounded last night at rehearsal.

Played it once at a wedding ( old band's keyboardist's do)- selection of Chicago blues and then Brown Eyed Girl! I played it on the top 2 strings , same as in the OP. It sounded cack.

At least it only occurs that one time at the start of the song

    G&B strings;

    12 - 13 - 15
    12 - 14 - 16

Then B&E as you already have it.

Or even better, play it in D instead, and then it's just the first thing at the 7th fret, then again at the 12th

That's how I play it too.
