    Do we get a prize....?
A self funded trip to Leamington Spa this Friday and a guest spot with us on that track?

Set-up about 7:00, you can use my rig but feel free to bring your own guitar if you want.

    See you there.

I've played that loads in a previous wedding band, and it was the way you show in your original post.

I hated it, very easy to mess up and very well known too, so really obvious if you fluffed it (no pressure!!).

The guitarist on this appears to play:

    E -----------------------------------------------8---- 10---- 12----10-----8
    B -----8---- 10---- 12----10-----8-----------------------------------------
    G ----------------------------------------------9-----10-----12----10-----9
    D -----9-----10-----12----10-----9-------------------------------------
    A ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    E -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which sounds spot on to me, and makes me feel thick for not working this one out sooner..

This starts off with a double-stop that comprises a G note with a B underneath it, whereas I've been playing a G with a B above it, if that makes sense.

This 'new' way is also easier to play and will thus be my way of doing it from now on.

Only made it as far as the first line of vocals, but sheesh Van sounds cack on this....

    How very odd.

Wow, that's brilliant (the new way to play it not Van's vocals).

Just played it once that way and straight away it sounded cleaner than my original way.

    Top marks to you.

Looks like Ned on guitar great player. Ned (real name is John ? ) is often on the Owen Money shows in Wales and quite often see him with his regular band Red Hot Pokers. Pretty much how I play it only I start on 3rd fret for G chord section of riff, 2nd part exactly the same.

That's how I play it, with thumb and 2nd finger. There are a few other bits:

    E -------------3------------------5--------------------
    B -----5----------- 5------7----------7--------8-----
    G ------------------------------------------------------
    D -----5------------5------7----------7--------9-----
    A -------------------------------------------------------
    E -------------------------------------------------------

at the end of the verse, and:

    E ---------10-----8------7--------5-------3-----------
    B -----------------------------------------------------
    G ---11----------9-------7-------5--------4-----------
    D ------------------------------------------------------
    A ------------------------------------------------------
    E ------------------------------------------------------

as the lead in to the next verse
