    Default Duplicate Track Garageband

I am sure I am being a complete dimbwit, but How Do You create a Duplicate Track in Garageband successfully?

If I record a Rhythm Guitar Track first and then want to Duplicate it, from what I understood,
all I had to do was Hit "Duplicate Track" and then hit Record?

It doesn't seem to work for me, so obviously I am doing something stupid.
I have a 2011 iMac and am running Lion. So has something changed in the newest version of Garageband? I am sure I am doing something foolish here, so could you set me on the right path please Chaps?

    Much appreciated

    Rob

IIRC duplicate track will give you a second track with the same settings (levels, input etc) but not a duplicate performance.

You can just copy and paste a take from the original to the new duplicate track.

Aha!!!! So it really is as easy as Copy and Pasting then?

I am afraid there will be more questions coming Chaps. Disadvantage of coming to all of this so late in life

Thanks a Million, I just hope I wont drive you mad with stupid questions.

You can also hold down alt and drag the clip to make a copy - saves a bit of back and forth!
