I've just been over at sevenstring.org, and there's a thread on there called "Post your most "Metal" pic of yourself and your ERG!!!" (ERG means "extended range guitar").

Bloody hell, I've never seen such a collection of geeks and weirdos in my life. Why didn't you guys tell me that more than six strings means you're some kind of mutant?

I'm a fairly active member over there. Those threads are just a bit of fun.

Really, they're a lot more tolerant, easy-going and laid back than on other forums I've been on (that includes this one), very helpful and knowledgeable, and just a laugh as well. They're not "geeks and weirdos", many of them play in successful, upwardly mobile bands (often bloody good ones, as well). There are some absolutely wonderful guitarists over there.

I really enjoy spending time on there. Certainly, there are far fewer people over there who would post a deliberate, malicious piss-take thread like this. They're a very nice bunch of guys.

Hmm, that isn't what it looked like from where I was sitting. Looked more like a little bit of faceless bashing that you didn't think anyone would pick you up on.

You can say all you want about light-heartedness, I hope you can appreciate that it's very easy to read something like that in a completely different way. I certainly did. It's the kind of thing I'm so used to seeing from certain people over here, that would just never be tolerated on SSO.

You read it wrong I think, Connor - I thought it was meant to be lighthearted, although he maybe should have put a smiley at the end. (But even that can be taken the wrong way.)

It don't really have a beef against more than six strings either - although you're both doing it wrong, you need *twelve* strings .
