I bought Classic Rock ( always a mistake I know) and on the cover mount cd Gotsta Get Paid is the first track. Cranked up loud whilst driving rather awesome.
Breeding mammals with insects is my personal bugbear.

I Gotsta Get Paid just ...no.

Oh good, that's the only track I've heard so far and was not impressed. I saw them waaaaay back in the 80's and loved it. My ears rang for 3 days afterward.

I saw em in the o2 last year or the year before can't remember when and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I was sat right in the back unfortunately BUT the sound quality of the band and the tone the Rev had was staggeringly good!!!

I think you mean bad-ass. As in good. That kind of bad-ass.

I still don't get what all the fuss is with I Gotsta Get Paid.

I have CR. I will be working my way through it progressively... too much good content this issue!! Only thing missing for me was more of a feature on The Darkness besides the album review...

What the hell are they doing playing the riff from Long live rock 'n roll by Rainbow?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLN8lHBBKck
Plus overtones of Tush, very disappointed with that song

Yes! Yes yes yes! I said that very thing myself - it's Long Live Rock n Roll, isn't it?

The album was announced today! Yay!

    La Futura.

What's got me pizzled orf though is that we've heard half the album. All of this Texacali EP is on the album. Plus "Flyin' High" which leaked on YouTube years ago.

And it's only a 10-track album. So yeah. We've heard half of it. Pffft. I mean those 4 songs are good. But I'd hoped, on the back of that, for either a longer album (it's been 9 years FFS...) or some different songs on the album when it finally dropped. *yawn*

Sorry for the necro thread resurrection, but I agree 100% with this.

Finally got the album now and whilst I have only heard it once through so far, I am very disappointed they have gone down the Rick Rubin route of "strip it back to what you did years ago". Mescalero was varied and inventive. La Futura is just the sound of ZZ Top retreading old ground...and the "as live, minimal overdubs" thing isn't especially flattering for a band like the Top who are, it has to be said, not quite in the finest voice of their career.

..and, based on the EP tracks, not a completely stripped down return to early blues that many imagined either. 9 year wait for a middling ZZ Top album.
