Dude is that meant to be funny? or clever? It is neither.

The point of recreating these patches is to learn about synthesis and discuss the techniques we used.
Come back when you have successfully recreated the patch in a soft synth, and share the patch.
Until then, fuck off and stop being a mouth-off.

Regardless, wasting your time just to post a smug remark makes you look like an immature twat, so well done on that. Congrats.

Everyone else, sorry for getting so annoyed. I just hate people being so childish.

Yes, with "all of 7 posts", I WAS being a smart alec quite intentionally, but not for offense. I didn't know there was a minimum response requirement before I cracked a joke (even a bad one) around these parts. So sorry I offended your sensibilities [insert sarcasm]-is that better?. Or maybe I'll just come back when I hit 89 like you, deal? Only 81 to go....

With that said, as a D-50 owner and programmer (which is WHY I was drawn to this particular thread-didn't think about that didja), I am in a position to offer some insight and even help the process along for those that might not have immediate access to a D-50 (like the one sitting right next to me) and the original program if there are questions about the original programming that might need answering.

Understanding Roland's implementation for LA-synthesis makes programming other synths with like sounds a bit easier. I didn't have a chance to get to that part and I guess my wisecracking post obfuscates that understanding. Oh-fucking-well.

As smug as my "introduction" to this thread has been, so is your insipid response to me. It actually doesn't make your comments much better, trying to "correct" me because you didn't like what I said, how I said it and/or when I said it.

It wasn't my intention to disrupt the party, so my apologies to those who dismiss a newbie with only a few posts for not waiting longer...

Roland have actually done this themselves. The V-synth has a soundtrack patch on it (along with all the classic D50 sounds) which is created using no LA synthesis at all.

I've got a D50, and a D550 so I'll sample the sound, have a go at building one in reaktor and post a link if it's half way decent...

    Edit:

I've got something close. It was more to do with playing with the envelope filters than the chorus effect. The chorus is actually quite mild, not too much. What I've made is (in essence) a string sound, mixed with a sampled organ sound which has a slow attack and then a 2 stage decay. Then a bit of chorus and stereo spacing. It's not completely there but it's on it's way!
