Finally tried out the Phase 90 and the Shimverb the other night.

The Phase 90 is very, very nice indeed. I love it. I think you'd have to spend a lot more to get a better phaser.

The Shimverb is OK. The room and spring modes sound pretty good. The shimmer---which is what I bought it for---doesn't really do it for me. I'm in two minds as to whether or not to keep it (not sure I need "normal" reverb). Anyone fancy swapping my shimverb for your something else? (not dirt, I have lots of dirt).

I've not heard very good things about the shimverb. The shimmer is shifted a 5th rather than an octave like most shimmer pedals which means it gets clashy on chords.

The general consensus amongst people I know is that it's by far their best pedal. I don't know what they've done differently to everybody else, but it's astonishing how they've managed to get so close to the original script logo Phase 90.

+1 on the shimerb being... ok. I didn't buy mine for the shimmer, i bought it for the bog standard reverb. Which sounds decent (though can be a bit noisy) and it's hard to complain for $44. But if you spend more, you can get a better reverb pedal, kind of thing.

it's "good for the money" (assuming you didn't buy it for the shimmer) as opposed to a lot of the other ones which are simply "good" without the caveats.

I don't think he's that worried about the shimverb being only ok.

    Sorry that was terrible.

    yeah me too

there's probably about a billion guitarists who'd be willing to swap a crybaby for something better. we'll end up all swapping them for each others' EDIT: if i were any good i'd take a shot at modding it. i guess that's another reason i haven't got rid of it yet.
