Wow this is a big thread, thought I'd never get to the end of it. So much writing and no pictures.

And who reads newspapers? I've not bought a paper for two if not three decades.
Books? I don't go for fiction, more history or reference stuff surrounding my interests and my reading pattern is therefore erratic, not helped by the fact that my commute is driving.

At high school we had a history teacher that would speed read a paperback in a single 40 minuet lesson, and you could test him on the contents afterwards.

I read quickly. I demolished The Very Hungry Caterpillar in about 8 hours, maybe not even that long.

The 300ish page novels I've read a lot of about 8 hours of reading... but then I spend so much time doing "stuff" that I don't read all that much lately

Had to stop buying books as the pile of books waiting to be read was in danger of consuming my room

I seem to read much more quickly on my kindle. Books were taking me months to get through and now I get through 2 or 3 a month. I don't think I read more often, perhaps its because when I fall asleep reading the kindle I don't then spend time the next night looking for which page I was on.

I've got a bookmark, when I get too tired to continue reading I stick it in the book at the point i've given up.

Yes but you aren't an old git (yet), I tend to fall asleep while reading in bed and drop the book, hence loss of page

Plus the Kindle is cool and makes reading a lot more comfortable than holding a thick book for a length of time if you're sat up in bed.

He worked in finance/money-stuff so all the paper reading was part of his job I think.

when i did read it was usually only for 10 mins before bed so a book would take me ages
