Anyone travelling from Swansea/S Wales to London/SE?
Long shot, but a fellow forumite has a guitar I want to buy. Happily he wants to sell. Unhappily he REALLY doesn't want to post.
He's in Swansea and I'm in Sussex (about 15 mins from Gatwick). I'd be prepared to pop into London or travel a reasonable localish distance, so if anyone might be travelling between South Wales and the South East and might be prepared to help a GAS-ravaged forumite, please PM me.
I might have a solution in the middle of July via a friend, but I am an impatient man and the GAS monster is awake and hungry...

Can't you tell him you'll get a courier to collect it and you'll waive him of any responsibility for transport damage ?

Anyway, don't want to diss the guy - just trying to find a creative way around the issue. Actually it's the gas monster that's doing all of that - I'm just a passenger. If it were any other purchase, I'd just shrug and find another to buy...

It's just that whole responsibility thing (for getting it packaged up well). I don't like to ask someone to do it.
I've just been through this all actually and will 'name and praise' Keithf, who not only agreed to check out a local Charvel that I was gassing after (I told you, the monster is eating my brain at the moment and won't rest until I have another guitar), but was going to box it up and send it. As it happens the gumtree guy selling suddenly stopped replying to my messages so I left it. But in the time that took to unfold I decided that I was uncomfortable asking anyone to do that for me...
As I said, I have a good friend heading home to visit his folks in Cardiff in a few weeks time so I could sort summat, just wondered if anyone happened to driving from Swansea to Gatwick for their holsI'd buy em a beer to send them on their way...

I'm actually heading up to Gatwick early (very early, 4am early) Thursday morning, so if anyone's coming down the m4 corridor to drop it to me somewhere around j5 /6/7/8 between now and then we can do a relay
Assuming you don't mind getting up super early thurs of course.

I think this is the way forward. Just need to work on my wife now. She is generally ambivalent about my guitar obsession - it's cheaper than classic cars, golf, whores - but seems to have a real issue with flying vees...
