The Korg MS-20 is capable of a pretty wide range of sounds due to its semi-modular construction, do you have anything more specific than MS-20 type sounds...

I was able to get pretty close to this starting with the default patch on ZebraCM. Change the filter setting to a 12 dB lowpass mode (the MS-20's were 12 dB lowpass), and reduce the tuning of Osc 1 to "-12". I set the waveform to around 6.50 or so, and brought the filter cutoff way down, almost to nil. I also set the filter "Env2 amount to about "36.00". Envelopes have fast attacks, decays of around 75.00 and Env 1 needs the sustain full up. Play a note (he's playing "G") and slowly twiddle the filter cutoff and resonance knobs and there you have it. Or something like it.

The MS-20 had a somewhat out of the ordinary filter sound with it's dual peaking LPF and HPF design... panned at the time of its release because it was imprecise and hard sounding. Didn't stop Korg from selling tens of thousands of the things and whaddya know? Turns out that it fits in perfectly with today's electronic music.

I'm using the Korg Legacy MS20 and I'm having a hard job getting what I want out of that, never mind anything else.

Is it just me or does anyone actually have a clue how to patch the thing? I have the manual but the included book just explains what the synth parameters do, the actual bit with any patching information is left in a digital document which I think is the original MS20 manual. You can't even read the thing, In order to see it, you have to blow it up a billion times and then the words become blurred not to mention it stretches a half mile across the screen which makes the job of trying to read it impossible.

I gave up trying to do that co's I couldn't learn a single thing from it. Wouldn't mind seeing an article in one of the mags for an in depth look into the MS20 and patching.

    Oh sorry to thread hijack....

That's much more comfortable to read. Thanks for posting that. I never bothered to search for anything like this presuming the manual to be the 'best' thing, it's just the way it's depicted that's rubbish.

    Cheers.
