If you like the Behringer EQ then just keep using it ! Who cares if it cost 12 quid from cash converters? If it sounds good and isn't busted, keep using it. You can justifably feel smug about being such a great guitarist you can even make Behringers sound good

I've got a cheap Dano fish n chips EQ and despite owning much more expensive pedals it doesn't take away from the fact that the Dano made a great booster in front of my Mesa.

I wish I could take my own advise sometimes, I'm sure it'd save me lots of cash.

If you must get something else, the lpb-1 is decent for the cash (cheap!) if you want a gritty type boost and the EP booster I tried at the weekend also sounded great.

lol.......if it were only true about me being such a great guitar player and making a cheap pedal sound good......

I think i'm going to take your advice for now, i played guitar for a couple of hours last night with just the amp and the Behriger EQ and i really could not fault the tone, it's sounding great and made me want to keep playing.

I'm sure the GAS will take over at some point, but for now i'm happy............

Flanging Fred - Was that my Xotic EP that you're talking about and tried at Gearfest? It's a great pedal and you can find them secondhand for @£60-70. It's tiny too and the internal dip switches offer some variation. Despite being true-bypass, I can hear a tone difference when activated but it's a good difference as things thicken up, it pushes a valve amp and gives you your volume boost.

The Catalinbread Serrano Picoso (discontiued) is another good one and is more of a pure boost.

I haven't tried one but the Carl Martin Hydra Boost is meant to be very good.

    All the best

this is a really interesting thread, I've been playing around with lots of different boot pedals and there appears to be two real seperate boosts.

Once which is a clean volume boost, it boosts the whole signal and harmonic range, others seem to be the slight boost in volume but also the gain or signal at the same time, like a mild distortion.

I've found pedals like the Bob Burt clean boost which is exactly what it says in it's name, it's a clean boost that adds no gain to the ear, I can't get the thing to distort, it's superb, then there are the pedals like the Keely Katana which adds gain with the volume.

There are pedals which are a mix, like the Exotic EP booster which I've only just got myself which has dip switches to work with unity volume and gain, or just a simple volume boost.

I've got no expeirence with the suhr pedals and where they sit in this scale.
my musicians blog http://www.matthewdarcy.co.uk - I'm also selling a Wampler buffer pedal and a Keeley Fuzzhead

Yeah, it was your EP. I really did like it and can see why it's so popular. It gave a quality to the sound that was far more than a simple 'make it louder' pedal.

You're on the right track with your original
    list of possibilities...

FWIW I'd recommend the Xotic RC booster
and my personal faves XTS Tejas & Pegasus Boosts

Have you considered the Flynn Amps Hawk Boost.
Its the best booster I have used, gets great reviews and has a flexible EQ section built in.
If money is no object the check out the Chandler Pedals, the Lil Red devil is the next effect on my shopping list

I'd looked at the Boo Boost pedal. I'd be wanting it to drive the tubes into natural overdrive, is it pretty transparent?
