Hey,
i have a big problem with my condenser mic.
It only works through mixers.
I try it ythough my soundcard and nothing happens.
Yes, i have phantom power on, there is nothing wrong with the lead and i have tried multiple soundcards.
I took it to a music shop and it worked fine through their mixers.
I am very confused now.
Is there anything i can do?
The mic is a Bheringer B-1 and the soundcard is a Line 6 UX2
Thanks
Jamie
The voltage will be sent up both the balanced audio pins on the XLR and returned through pin 1 the shield of the mic cable. You could test the cable for voltage at the female xlr (Mic end of the cable). It could be that the pin1 connection or cable shield has failed. A new cable will resolve the situation if you are unable to solder up the break.
What I mean is that the TonePort can't provide the exact voltage that the B-1 is looking for.
Head to the TonePort forums and see if anyone has the same mic, or had the same problem.
Sounds like something elementary is being missed but difficult to help online.
Seeing as the mic requires 48 volts phantom power and there is no battery alternative my guess would be that the mic requires more voltage than the tone port can produce. I don't know what voltage you can drag out of a USB port its enought to charge a phone so possibly 10-15 volts. If the mic requires all 48 volts then you can see the problem.
