Moyles is a cock. Always was. Always will be. If I ever found myself in a room with him and a cricket bat.....

Mind you, it won't make a jot of difference to me as I don't listen to R1, being full, as it is, of autotuned talentless nobodies churning out generic sausage machine pap.

I'd gladly do Fearne Cotton though....

These Knobhead DJs arent even music fans. The late great John Peel said that he thought the pre-requisite for becoming a DJ was that you had to be an obsessive music nut, all that changed with the "personality" DJs, I read in his book that he went round to one of his fellow DJs houses (it may have been DLT I cant remember now) and said "where are all your records?" The reply was something like "Oh I just listen to a few tapes in the car".
    Wankers the lot of em.

The thing that most people don't realise is that R1&2 DJs with shows before 7pm are "Personality DJs" i.e. they present music from the playlist that they don't have a lot of say in. DJs after 7pm are specialists and therefore choose their own music. They don't really have to be big music fans.

The only two decent Breakfast DJs at the moment are John Humphries and James Naughtie on Wireless 4. Not much music but their banter is pretty good.

I prefer Shaun Keaveny. Not that I find Chris Evans banging on about cars and how great his life is self indulgent and boring, but I really like music.

    +1

From the rest of this thread I'm getting the idea that other radio stations exist. That can't be good.

John Humphreys makes me embarrassed to be Welsh. Even though I'm actually English.

Generally, he's usually ok, but when he thinks he's got someone on the back foot, he plays devil's advocate - very, very badly. Firing moronic challenges at interviewees with that derisive incredulous tone of his leaves me seething that he thinks he's being clever when he's just crossed the line into the Jeremy Kyle show and exposed his complete misunderstanding of the arguments being put.

I have quite low expectations of any daytime radio show playing music I like and have tried Moyles show a few times. I know I'm far off the demographic but...nothing happened. They didn't play much music, they didn't really talk about anything. It wasn't that it was offensive or too yoof it was just very dull.

Don't get me started on Chris Evans...

With the kids in the car its Kerrang. Inane drivel it might be but my kids like the music and sometimes they'll even play something I can cope with. These days I alternate between Radio 4, Radio 5 and my own cd's.I'm my own little DJ!
