There are several problems of this type where IE stops responding, and where the window being viewed becomes white. You are then left with no other option than to close and restart IE and restore the windows you were viewing.

If you are using Windows 7, try this to see if it alleviates the problem:-

    > Open Internet Explorer

    > Click on Tools on the toolbar

    > Click on Manage Add-ons, and wait for the window to be populated with the Add-ons

    > Click on an Add-on which is enabled and disable it.

    Try and duplicate the problem.

If the problem occurs again, re-enable the addon, and disable another one.

Repeat these steps to check whether it is an Add-on that is causing the problem.

    2. Did your PC come with an Anti-virus software (Norton 360) which you are not subscribing to? You may have installed Microsoft Security Essentials instead, and a Norton 360 message keeps popping up that your PC is not protected.

    > Uninstall Norton 360 which came with the PC.

That looks like a different problem, rocktron. This one is the window closing of its own accord and then reloading. If the same thing happens several times in a row, IE stops trying to access the site ("has too many problems"), but at least it gives you the option to try reconnecting to it.

Which version of IE are you using?

If you are using IE7, I would recommend that you upgrade it to IE8.

Last weekend, I was rebuilding an old Desktop PC with Windows XP Service Pack 3, and IE7 just wouldn't work. I upgraded it to IE8, and then IE was fine.
