Default MUST READ : Scammers are watching!

You know all that crap on Gumtree about "Bank Transfer" payments and scamming ad's, etc?? Well they've started on here.

I advertised on here as wanting an SG and randomly got an email from someone that hadn't posted in the thread offering me an SG. I said, "yes I'm interested. Send me pics and price, etc".

    I then got this........

Thanks for your email...i have attached a pics of My SG standard in
cherry for you to see.... and still in Good Condition and Perfectly
OK,with No rust or dust well Clean, and OK,and it come with Manual and
i will be asking 350euro and i will need to know your complete home
address and Phone Number to calculate the shipping cost to your
doorstep,my Mode of payment is Bank wire or western Union... Let me
know which one you prefer, thanks and Hope to hear from you soon

In summary, I won't be taking up the offer that was sent to me, and I advise you not too either.

    Be careful.

I'm assuming you mean posted on here, rather than you advertised wanting an SG on Gumtree, yes?

I do find it a little odd (suspect?) when a new user with no posts is listed as "creating private message" in the activity field - l spot this while keeping my eye out for obvious spammers such as those with user names like "comp0at0bw0yo4n"[1] - usually I think it's a certain keyboard "player" sending links to random users, but scammers are obviously doing it too.

    Stay safe, all

    [1] I didn't make that up.

Likewise i posted a wanted on here for a rare item and got a random response from someone claiming to be in spain - no previous post history.

Given the rarity of the item i doubt they have or even know what the item is, let alon actually have one!

    BE CAREFUL!!

The key is trust. I generally won't deal with anyone who I haven't seen around the forum generally unless they want to come and pick up in person

And I've never heard of anyone ever using Western Union for anything above board. The moment it's mentioned you should ALWAYS run a mile

Can I suggest this to be a 'Stickie' at the top of the column?

Get them all the time with my advert for my Jaguar, fortunately the ones I have received you can clearly see they are fake as they don’t go into too much detail or they ask for your email address and name even though that is on the advert.
