So, Im finally in a position to blow some notes on some monitors for my Line 6 UX2. I got about £200 - £250 to spend on them so any suggestions welcome. Any advice welcome on this please

For that money i'd get hold of a pair of Behringer Truth B3030A's, which come in at a ridiculous £220/pair from Thomann. You'll have a big enough woofer to hear low frequencies with a ribbon tweeter for a crystal clear top end.

For similar money you could also take a look at Yamaha HS50s which are also good, although perhaps a little light on bottom end to really mix low frequencies accurately.

In reality, your budget will always be a compromise as it's only just at the point where you can buy something usable. Saying that, I know people that use both the Truths and HS50s that get great mixes out of either.

I'm in a similar position but have about £50 more to spend.

Was considering KRK RP5/6s or maybe even the Adam A3X which have come down in price to around £300.

I suspect this is because of the new Adam F series, due in October. The F5s seem to be priced at around £300 a pair and I think these might be worth waiting for.

Don't mean to hijack but I'd also be interested in any other suggestions/advice. I'm using them in an untreated room so I know there's no point in buying anything too fancy. Room is 5x2.3 meters.

I got a pair of tannoy reveals for 190 squids from the bay and they're really really good monitors.Much better imo than many of the more expensive genelecs I've used

I'd go with the Yamaha HS50s. They're great speakers and sound pretty good.
