Default Guitarist & bassist required - Paid Gig - London

    Hi

Right, Im the drummer - my usual guitarist and bassist, the back ups, and now the back up back ups have all let us down!!

A mate of mine has a show on October the 26th, He is a rapper/producer and up until now has been doing live shows with a DJ.

The show coming up requires a full band, so I am putting one together, I am wondering if you would be interested in playing some bass or guitar? Its mainly hip hop/ drum & bass type stuff.

Basically its a one off show, so we would need to do some rehearsals to get it all together, but that's about it really!
Rehearsals will be in North West London or Hertfordshire.

Its quite a good opportunity to play a decent gig, see below for all the details:

    All details:

    Gig - 26/10/12

    http://www.relentlessfreeze.com/index.php
Main Stage Performance time - 16.45-17.15
    Arrival time - 14.45

Fee - £30.00 per performer (approx)

    Artist Website

    Music Examples:

    The Recipe
    Break This Game
    T in The Park Highlights

We need people with a good look, good vibe, their own pro equipment and transport. If all goes well, then potentially there will be other gigs in the future.
We will need to get videos or sound samples of you and what you can do.... If you happen to know a bass player you get on with, or vice-versa, then all the better
    Under 30s preferred.

Not one bit of interest. Amazing.

" From 26-27th October 2012, Battersea Power Station will, once again, be bursting at the seams with snow sports and music fans, all there to witness the most unique event in London.

Whether you want to witness the World Cup Snowboarding Event, the cream of the International ski scene or simply just a stunning live music line up Freeze is the place go. If you like all three then you can’t miss this."

    Bump.

I am a bass player, would love to do this, but I have no personal transport, would have to rely on the tube!

Plus I am ugly as sin.

Most bass players are ugly You aren't alone
Sadly we need someone with transport as rehearsals are likely to happen in a place where there is no tube!

Appreciate the interest, if we can work anything out, I shall let you know!

I think "Fee - £30.00 per performer (approx)" might put a lot of people off TBH. Unless it's £30 for each rehearsal as well?

Thanks for your feedback, and fair enough.

Maybe I should just put a band together and not pay anyone...? Seems to me that the majority of bands/musicians on here dont get paid to rehearse, hell, they dont get paid for gigs....unless you love playing weddings....?

To get paid and play a large, decent gig.... is hardly a bad thing.

Im not looking for a top notch session player, because they arent worth £30, far more infact. However, I reckon (you maybe?) mr joe bloggs whos sat about on the MR forum will be happy to play a gig to a few thousand people and have a few drinks bought for them in the process. Of course it will be fun and a good day of music and frivolities
I haven't even gone into the great networking opportunity or future gigs....

Dont know what you were expecting, but for randoms on the internet... this isn't a bad deal/opportunity. Depends if you are in it for the money....or for the music?

It sounds like a fun gig/event, I might have even been interested if I was local, into that genre, had a good look and was under 30, but it looks to me like you're in a bind, the back ups, and now the back up back ups have all let you down, if you are indeed serious about "the music" and not the money, why not pay the going rate and get a pro in for the gig? Doesn't have to be a top notch session player, You'll be making a lot more work for yourself fishing around for someone who'll come on board for £30 given the timescale involved.
Musicians have to make a living.
Good luck though, hope it's a success

Yep, fair point. At the end of the day, I'm just a drummer helping a mate, and was thinking I might have been helping some people on MR get an easy gig with what seemed like a good offer....Plenty of bedroom guitarists on here, who dont currently get paid for anything!

Sadly, my guitarist mates are all busy

We aren't all seasoned, pro, session players who can justify £200 a day. Seems like you are coming at it from that angle....Sadly, its not quite that "professional" yet.
That said, I shall pass on your feedback, and see if he wishes to pay a professional, as perhaps that is the way to go. Fuck it.... Im just happy to play a gig. Money or no money.

    PS It's under 30s preffered....not under 30s only
