The full stops thing really annoys me. Text speak is irritating but at least it had some kind of purpose, surely breaking up everything you type with hundreds of full stops is a pain in the arse?

and the problem that comes with telling this person to piss off, is the fact that I have known her for ages and I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be nasty to her. It is easier for me to try and ignore it, however i haven't added her recent attempt at *another* facebook profile..

I use ellipsis for effect... does that count?

Three full stops are an elipsis which is a legitimate form of punctuation. What you've done is an afront against god and nature!

I use elipses all the time.

I like to type as though I'm thinking out loud, and my mind can be a dark and terrofying place filled with beasties and dragons. So in order to keep mostly on one topic at a time I will trail a sentance off and begin a new one... but the previous one never really ended.

Also.

Never read books in which people interupt each other as elipses are used for those truncated half sentances, or where people are interupted by actions...

"Holmes look out for..."
A hackney carriage crashes, driverless, into a market stall.
"...that carriage. my goodness, are you all right?!"

"What I'm trying to say is..."
"OH! Here we go again, I suppose it's the immigrants?"
"... actually I was going to say dinner was superb"

... or other such things.
