The problem with being a linguistic pedant, apart from it being a fairly cheap way to assert your 'superiority', is that it sets you up for a fairly major fall when you 'misuse the language' yourself.

Well, I wasn't expecting that. You're a bit of a touchy old sod aren't you ? I was only having a bit of fun, and I certainly wasn't trying to 'wind you up'. On the contrary, I thought we were having a bit of comedy banter - the intention being to raise a smile.I assume that your attempts to wind me up are just down to your having a dissatisfying life, both professionally and personally.
