Default Fractured shoulder, more news and not good

I collapsed whilst in my local Sainsbury's early last Tuesday morning and suffered what has since been described as some kind of fit or seizure, tho' that's not the worst of it, on my journey to the floor I hit something hard enough to fracture my left shoulder This isn't the first such incident, I collapsed and fitted/swallowed my tongue at work some 30 years ago. This was never explained, tho' it was never investigated as fully as the recent episode.

I was rushed to hospital and various tests intended to determine exactly what happened all came back clear. I already have a neuro disorder, Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, which as the name suggests affects my legs with sometimes uncontrolled muscle spasms. I don't know as I was well out of it at the time, but suspect it was these spasms showing that led people to think I was fitting, but why I collapsed I can't even begin to guess at.

I'm looking at 6 to 8 weeks for the shoulder to heal with hopefully no pinning needed, tho' I was warned on Friday at the fracture clinic it may be necessary. All the swelling and bruising is coming out, it looks a right mess atm and hurts like f#ck, tho' there's little pain from the shoulder itself, it appears to be more muscular. The suggested painkillers, co-codomol, aren't doing much to help, I'm getting a lot more relief from a good old anti inflammatory muscle rub.

I've a appointment with a neuro on the 23rd, luckily the same one I'm already seeing for my Spastic Paraplegia, tho' as I was alone at the time of this happening there are no witnesses as to anything strange occurring leading up to my collapse to give him any clues as to what happened.

Another trip to the fracture clinic this coming Friday where hopefully x rays will show the damage is healing naturally with no need for pins.

Any get better soon vibes going spare will be much appreciated.

Hope everything is sorted soon, Ian, and hopefully your neurologist will be able to get to the bottom of what happened.

Wow. Could have been worse, you could have gone into spasm somewhere far worse.... you might have been in LIDL. You'd have had to fashion your own stretcher out of used cardboard boxes.

Get well vibes, er... vibrating in your direction.

Is it ok to vibrate in the general direction of another man and not be gay ?

Hope they get you sorted soon mate.

    Thanks folks, much appreciated

I'm trying (and failing tbh) not to fall into the self pity trap but my lack of sleep since it happened can't be helping, I'm finding it all but impossible to get comfy and pain free for long enough to get any meaningful shuteye.

@Emperor Fabulous lol at the LIDL comment.

Things could have been a lot worse, 10 minutes later I would have been on my way home and probably not found for hours, or more worryingly, I'd been at home when it happened. I live alone so would possibly have remained undiscovered for days.

Best wishes for healing, mate. See if you can get some di-hydro-codeine. It works

If you see a physio for getting the shoulder working again, don't annoy him/her. They know how to inflict pain.

This. I don't know where I'd be without my helper monkey. He's called Derek.

Get well soon vibes being sent your way, Ian. Best of luck with your recovery, diagnosis, etc.
My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.
