But only when I keep coming down with different medical issues, I'll probably save the best for my last post before I keel over and die

I forgot to mention this yesterday, while in with my GP he told me he hadn't seen a abscess for years, but on the day I first saw him over mine, it was the second he'd seen that day and the other was in pretty much the same position on that patient as well and his was just as severe as mine. A epidemic of abscesses? (another band name perhaps?)

A distinct possibility, tho' if they happened to play banjo's or uke's, it'd have to be keel over and die painfully

It's fair to say the abscess is healing, it's a slow and painful process but it's now only about half the size it was.

I was a bit concerned about it not healing as fast as I'd expected/hoped, so saw my GP about 10 days ago and he was pleased with the way things were going, but asked me to make a appt to see a nurse to check if it was still getting better, and I saw her this Tuesday morning. She suggested (inbetween gagging at the amount of pus coming from the by now three large vents/holes in said abscess) I see my GP again as it was still full of pus and in her opinion may need more antibiotics if not lancing, but I told her he'd seen it a few days before and was happy.

For all it's decreased in size, for the past 36 hours it's been as painful as when at it's largest. I've had abscesses before and while they've been painful, they were usually pinhead sized and were gone in days, nothing at all like this monstrosity. It's costing a fair amount of money in buying sterile dressings, etc and I'll soon run out of the manganese sulphate paste which is drawing all the gunk out, albeit painfully as it stings like hell when first applied. I don't know how much my not having a fresh supply of this paste will slow the healing down, but it certainly won't help.

I forgot to say, the Keppra AED seems to be keeping my seizures under control, at least I've had no tonic-clonic fits recently, tho' I'm still getting the usual warnings that *something* (a fit) is about to happen. These, what I'd class as absences, are more frequent now and have occurred over a 6 hour period at worst, which makes doing anything all but impossible, barring just sitting there expecting to find myself coming round with a blinding headache, barely knowing who or where I am, and is no fun at all.

I work with a lad with Epilepsy, have to deal with his seizures, about bi monthly though they have been more frequent in the past. His symptoms usually begin with clumsiness, dropping cutlery when eating, stumbling and unsteadiness. Its horrible to see someone having a seizure as you cant do anything, just try to put something soft under their head and let it run its course. He's on 1200mg of Sodium Valporate daily, quite a large dosage but seem to control it well.

    Best of luck Ian.
