Still they weren't as embarrassingly awful as The Beach Boys
I caught the show. Really disappointed with Muse as I'm a huge fan of the first 4 albums. I agree that the Resistance was a huge low and I haven't heard the new album but from what I've heard they're taking the Queen thing a bit too far and coming out the other end with very little of any musical interest. Then again, the couple of tracks they did on the show may turn out to be growers. I won't be buying the album anyhow.

I missed Jools last night but I'll get it on iPlayer later.
My initial reactions to my first listen through was 'not as bad as I thought it would be' and 'quite an interesting listen'.

Listened a couple of more times and actually a lot of it is guff!

Having listened to it right through three times now today, I agree. It's quite amusing at first to spot all the pinched melodies and other things, but after a while it just sounds a bit cheesy.

I don't think there's actually a really strong song on it at all. Oh well. I still like it better than the last two though!

After a couple more listens I agree. The rest is basically pointless. I like the idea of the funky one, but it doesn't quite work. And whoever showed them dubstep music should be sent into the desert for a long time

I quite liked that Survial song, even downloaded it and so now it is the extent of my Muse collection.

Noooooo...this is what terrifies me...people are gonna assume Muse have always been this bad! The first three albums were monumental! Listen to Origin of Symmetry from start to finish - it's dark, heavy, brilliantly arranged, the songs are perfect, and Matt doesn't sing like a fucking pantomime villain like he does now.

Muse...we had some good times :-(

Just taking my first listen to the album. My track by track opinions of the album

    1) Supremacy. Hate it except the pounding bass riff.
    2) Madness. Boring. Don't like.
    3) Panic Station. First decent song on the album!! So much funk. So much more life than the first 2 tracks! Finally, getting somewhere. The falsetto is there. And there's grit. Yay!!
    4) Prelude. Instrumental filler, no comment.
    5) Survival. What the fuck? And anyone else think if you listen to it closely, the intro sounds like someone going "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck" over and over? Then I am a sucker for when it got huge/epic/heavy in the middle... so I'll let them off. Even if it does sound like something off the new Devin Townsend album.
    6) Follow Me. Frankly this was just depressing. Glad it picked up towards the end but what an enduring listen...
    7) Animals. Pretty good, loving the ending!!
    8) Explorers. Not much happening here, pretty average. Bit spacey.
    9) Big Freeze. Yay! Another song to actually like. There's something kinda cool about it and I don't really know what it is so the title is quite fitting!!
    10) Save Me. Hmmmmmmmmm I've got very mixed opinions of this. If it was on a Porcupine Tree or Dream Theater record I feel like it would make sense. I don't hate it but at the same time I don't love it. Is that Matt Bellamy singing?? :s
    11) Liquid State. Sounds a bit like some old/heavier MUSE. Quite like it.
    12) Unsustainable... now this is something people wouldn't expect me to like but I love the nucking futs dubstep/techno stuff in this track.
    13) Isolated System... not sure. Bit dull, bit twinkly piano. Nothing exciting here.

    My verdict: 5/10

The Resistance, Black Holes... and Absolution are still MUSE's best albums in my opinion. This one doesn't even touch on them.
