I've seen them much cheaper with a "free" Gibson jazz box attached to the pickups - solder joints intact.

what's worse is someone will actually buy those and imagine it's a steal.

it's almost as bad as those £250 truss rod covers.

I wonder what happened to the guitar? If they are genuine I bet a collector somewhere could be tempted to do a deal on them - there are a couple of ex-Microsoft owners who are known to collect this sort of stuff, and probably earn about $15K every hour on the interest from the billions of dollars they've earned. The seller has nothing to lose by offering them, although Kent Armstrong do a wallet friendly copy for people looking for a cost-effective solution.

I would think they came from a guitar so damaged that even restored, having the original pickups doesn't make it worth £10,000+ more. Like the famous "left hand conversion" one, possibly.

Yes, but those will have the wrong lengths of cable and the bridge pickup cable will have a solder mark halfway along it.

In the market that these things are in, that actually matters. Originality is *everything*, well beyond the point there could be any possible practical reason that a near substitute won't do.

Yes, I know it's stupid as well!

I would expect that you could find a pickup from any one of the current boutique repro makes that would sound identical to these, and with a bit of careful work even look pretty much the same, but that isn't the point.

Double wihtes too - that'll add to the value

Bit daft though just becasue they're 59's - I know where theres a pair of 1964 PAFs in a (surprisngily) 1964 SG for £14,000.

    Daft.

Two plastic bobbins, a couple of coils of wire, some rusty steel and some maple filler pieces.

"These Pickups are Amazing sounding, Nothing like Real PAF tone"

Err, so these sound nothing like a PAF then?

What a load of utter bollocks
