    Default Editing software recconendations.

    Hi all.
I recently got myself a Tascan DR07 mkii studio recorder. Purely for the purpose so I can listen back to our rehearsals to see what works, what don't work, or any bits that sound empty being just a 3 piece with vocals.
I can edit on the unit itself. But it a bit of a pain.
So im after a simple software package that would allow me to edit out the chit chat Inbetween tracks, so I ve just got the music left.
Don't really needs any effects. Just the ability to edit a 4 hour session.
Operating system is windows vista. Sound files are WAV @ 44.1khz.

    Any suggestion or recommendations please

    Thanks in advance.

Audacity will probably do everything you need. I use it to cut the rehearsal chit chat when I use my ipod to record. It has the added bonus of being free too.

I you wanted to try something really posh!

Download the 30day trial of Sony Soundforge. Lush GUI, superb meters (Audacity is good but this tekky BOF likes nice meters!) and more signal processing than you can shake a tree at.

Note: The trial is computer specific so you can have 30days on the mainframe then another 30 on the lappy!

    Dave.

That sound forge looks really good. But probably a bit involved for me.
Think audacity may be the way to go.
    Thanks for the suggestions.

You could also try Wavosaur, I prefer it to Audicity, but both are worth trying
