Default So, tried a Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jazz today

So I tried one of these out at GAK whilst me and t'other half were there for a day trip:

It felt quite nice to play actually. The finish on the neck felt a little "new" and "plasticky" almost, but it didn't sound bad at all - sounded rather good, the stock pickups did it for me at least.

Only thing I'm wondering really is about the bridge. I like a really low action on a bass, and sometimes in the past with cheaper basses, I've had a problem getting reliable intonation at lower actions - seemed to be to do with the low quality saddles to me.

So I'm wondering whether replacing the bridge would be a good idea or not, and if so, what kind of bridge could I switch over to? Wouldn't want to spend ridiculous money, but not averse to mid to high quality either.

If I'm honest, I've got more a boner for this one:

But they didn't have one there. But I just like the finish a lot more, although haven't seen it in the flesh.

Bad Ass II bridge. If you can find one.

    Good little basses those.

If you cant find a Badass I put a Gotoh 201 on my cheapie jazz bass and it completely transformed it.

I was trying out a pedal at the Bass Centre on Denmark Street the other day and used a 5-string Vintage Modified Jazz. It was a very nice-feeling bass.

Those Squiers punch well above their weight IMO.
My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.

Thanks for the tip Fret + Stick, will check those out!! I reckon I'll try and pick up the slightly sexier looking VM 70's one, and slap a decent bridge on it! Needs me the low actions!

Yeah the 70's one is a much nicer looking one, IMO.

I've got the VM active jazz 4 and it's awesome!

I'm yet to find anything that I prefer the sound of - chuffed to bits with it, just wish they did it it white like the CV Jazz. Those are fab too!
