Default Chappers and The Captain videos

Hmmm...which one is the most annoying? I quite like chappers actually but I find 'The Captain' gets under my skin. Firstly, he's quite clearly Chappers slightly nerdy friend, trying to ride to coolness on the back of Chappers credibility so calling himself 'The Captain' is just pushing it a bit. Also, he is obviously trying to sell stuff and so there's really no balance to his comments. You can just see his discomfort whenever Chappers accidentally says anything vaguely negative about a piece of kit.

They are both quite annoying in their blind toadying to anything Blackstar.

But what do I know? I'm sure they're both lovely really. I'm obviously spending too much time in front of YouTube.

That 'Chappers' is just an annoying prick, trying to be funny and 'whacky'. Andertons should be ashamed. He puts me off using them!!

"The Captain" is what they've always called him at Andertons, from what I gather - it's not something they just came up with for YouTube.

The only thing that annoys me about Lee is his obsession for calling anything with a valve in it "all-tube". The most irritating was when he kept saying it about the DT25...which is a modeller with a valve power section.

Both of them are lovely guys in person, though, and not too dissimilar from how they are on-camera. I guess it just comes across differently IRL, so when I watch the videos I already have that context.

I reckon if I filmed myself with my mate mucking about with gear, I'd watch it back and think "what a tit". They probably do come across better IRL, as DS says. Saying them, I don't find them that annoying.

I like the vids and find Lee the most engaging. And I'd say more honest than you'd expect - there was a recent vid where both Lee and Chappers both said they didn't like a product they were testing.

I've also enjoyed seeing how Lee's blues playing has progressed since they started the videos.

But yes the "all tube" thing is annoying, as is often relying on poor factory patches when demoing tech guitar gear.

I much prefer Lee's playing and sound, to be honest

I always feel a bit tense when he plays something - it feels uncomfortable, as if he doesn't really want to. I think he's very aware that he's not as overtly talented (maybe 'flashy' is a better word) as Chappers.

What's weird is.... I've never seen anyone here play guitar... I guess I just appreciate the goofiness in the Chappers repetoire.

But I don't watch their videos for gear reviews. Neither of them play anything remotely like what I play, and as I said, Proguitarshop has the best online gear demos.
