    Default Interface and amplifier issues.

I recently purchased a Presonus vsl22, and among having serious noob issues as I am completely unfamiliar with any kind of recording, Im having issues with amplifier and interface volume.

The interface gives you the option of plugging your instrument straight in and recording using the provided EQ. The settings sound terrible and I wanted to record using my Line6 and all of its settings. Im recording by hooking guitar to amp, amp headphone to interface. I cant seem to get the volume right. Ive tried adjusting this and that and it either clips and makes a horrible humming sound or its far too quiet and the noise gate phases it out.

Any tips would be super helpful.

send the line out from the line6 into the interface, not the headphone out
