Cool No Longer For Sale: Peavey Rockingham B6 Bigsby - Same as Gretsch / Peerless

I don't want to sell this really, but still raising funds for something I'm GASsing over, so this is a sacrificial Lamb to the Slaughter.

EDIT: I cured my GAS (for now), so no longer for sale.

This is an early Peavey Rockingham, the person I bought it from believed it was a prototype because of a blemish under the finish, and the inner label is very basic.

These guitars are made by Peerless, so they are the exact same guitar and spec as the Peerless Gigmaster Custom and Gretsch 3131, Going rate for a Gretsch or Peerless is double what I'm asking for this Rockingham , so it's a way to snap up a cracking guitar for a considerable wedge less - just because the name isn't as popular.

These have a proper Bigsby B6 - and when you consider a proper B6 Bigsby is £150, this guitar is great value.

This is a real bargain if the look of it is your cup of tea. It's had a repair to the top (very minor) next to the fretboard, in line with the switch. You probably can't see it on the photo, to be honest.

    Here it is:

...and just as a comparison - here's it's sheer size next to a Les Paul! Although it's big, it's surprisingly comfortable.

Has a soft case, I'm looking at £250 posted.

I always package guitars well, and always send via next day if I can. I hate waiting for guitars, and I don't expect someone who buys one of mine to wait either.

I'm sure I'll buy another one of these in the future, but needs must at the moment.

    Any Q's, please ask.

You're not wrong. I'm secretly pleased there's no interest!

I haven't got the funds ( or a way to explain it to mrs theweary should that turn up at the door one day) but the purple with the Bigsby is the choice one, nice

There was a non Bigsby one and I think there were about 3 colours. Sig guitar of Darrell Higham even though he wasn't that well known then ( better known as Mr Imelda May these days). Made, I think, for the UK and European market.

I read somewhere that Peavey USA hated it, so it was Europe only. Are you sure Mrs Weary would notice?

It is lovely... these posts aren't helping me part with it...

I played a Gretsch G5120, and decided I REALLY wanted one, but didn't have the funds for it, so I spotted this thinking it would be a good placeholder until I raised enough cash for the Gretsch.

When that happens, you usually GAS after that other guitar... but as soon as I got this in my hands, I forgot about the Gretsch.

So if it doesn't go anywhere, I'll be more than happy, but would recommend one to anybody looking for this style of guitar, for sure.

    She'd notice.

Darrell and guitar just like the OP's. He changed the neck pick up but then he does that on very expensive Gretsch's these days. Nice solo starts about 1:18.

Nothing like a bit of rocknroll to get your foot tapping.

My other half really doesn't know what guitars I have - she's really not bothered... Can be a pain when you're trying to explain why you're so excited about a guitar she thinks looks exactly the same as another one... but on the other hand, because she's not bothered, she leaves me to get on with it...

    Have a bump on me.
I've got one of these Bigsby loaded machines off ebay last year for the same price as you are selling and damn if that wasn't the best bang for the buck guitar that I've ever bought.

The build quality inside and out is faultless and the pick ups are amazing, beautiful and Gretsch 'chimey'.

I had been looking at an Electromatic but it felt cheap in comparison to to the Rockingham. I was also eyeing up a Gibson ES-137 at the time, but the quality control was a joke when comparing it to this beauty.

These guitars are an absolute steal for the money!
