    Default 1st acoustic - recommendations/opinions?

OK so i am in the market for my first acoustic guitar and, although I don't want to spend too much, I want something half decent, preferring at this point, dreadnought.

    I have shortlisted so far:
    Fender CD-100LH
    Lag TL300D
    Sigma DM-1STL

All these are available in left handed models.

    Any opinions/owners opinions? thanks ....

I just traded in a Yamaha for a Sigma and am really pleased I did. Fantastic little guitar, very pleased indeed.

I'd add Seagull/Simon & Patrick (same manufacturer), Faith, Yamaha and Tanglewood to that list - never played a bad one of any of these. You might get all-solid timbers, especially if you keep an eye out for something second hand.

Well, I wasn't going to include Faith in my list cos that's my next acoustic purchase! I know the model I want, you see. This is for entry level money. But Tanglewood and Yamaha are possibles, thanks.

Why not wait a bit (if cash is the issue) and skip straight to the Faith?

Also: my old singer played a bit of acoustic live, and was a lefty. He had a Fender and a Tanglewood (and something else l can't recall) - the Tanglewood was much better, but over twice the price of the Fender.

Make of that what you will. He was a twat, mind.

This. If there's a couple of hundred in it, you'll probably actually end up spending less money overall.

I've played a few fender low end acoustics and find them below average compared to other brands in the price range, think their trading on the name to some extent

Thanks, kinda suspected the same thing regarding Fender tbh.

The Faith will have to wait, that will be my 'best' acoustic, first want to get something to use as a 'go to' guitar you see, hence the budget of around 200 quid. I'm edging towards the Sigma, I do know somewhere which has one, have to go and try I think, thanks for replies.

if you need to stick to your budget...........then PLEASE PLEASE go try as many used guitars as you can - you may well pick up something FAR in excess of what you can get new, and may never even have considered

the trouble with asking recommendations on a big forum is - one mans meat etc etc

    EDIT

sorry, missed the bit about left handed..........I guess thats going to make my suggestion a shed load more difficult -

Try one of the Blueridge range. Absolutely stunned by the sound of my newly acquired Blueridge. Awesome for the price
