Default Endless reverb tail loop over drop

I have no idea how to describe this which is why I'm posting on a forum rather than googling. I've heard the effect a few times but it can be heard here in the new Calvin Harris track. I managed to replicate it in my last track by using Paul's Extreme sound stretch and crossfading the stretched audio into the unstretched, but this took a lot of tweaking to sound reasonable and I doubt it's the way it's done usually, I'm probably missing something really simple. Can anyone shed some light?

    Thanks

    Buy Audiodamage Eos

    Switch on infinity mode

Use sidechaining to duck the reverb tail

    Job done.

Thanks for the reply, it's a shame there doesn't seem to be a demo for it. Do you think this is the plugin most people use to get the effect? I'll check it out

I use the Axe FX looper set on a 100% wet reverb block.
Putting some sort of subtle modulation effect between the reverb and the looper helps give it movement.
    Quad chorus is nice.

You could replicate this in a computer with any reverb and Mobius looper.

Ableton Live's reverb has a 'freeze' button which you can automate.

wow, I'm disappointed in myself for not noticing this! I have live and it's great that I now have a solution which doesn't require any third party plugins. Still a tricky effect to get but simpler than my previous method. Thanks!

You're welcome man. BTW, I just listened to a few tracks on your Soundcloud page. I think you need moar bass going on!

Fair enough, im surprised you can draw one particular fault out of them though they're all pretty different. I'm still learning to mix properly and it's taking some trial and error on combination of audio technica M50 headphones and referencing on some small behringer monitors and earphones. Recently have been putting most synths through Ableton Amp/Cabinet as well which probably takes most of the bass out.

Can't fault the mix on your bandcamp track though if you did it, not into that type of music ATM unfortunately but it doesn't sound bad.

Ah it wasn't a criticism man, it was just a bit of advice. Might be something in your mixing environment causing you to think there is more bass than there actually is. Headphones are a prime example of this, because the proximity of the mini speakers to your ears causes a pretty severe bass increase - causing you to undermix the bass. It was a general thing I noticed across a bunch of stuff.

With the amp routing thing... try doing it in paralell with the main signal, allowing the bass to be retained on the main track.

Sounded good other than that though.

Oh and yeah, I record and mix all our stuff.
