Caps arrived today so thanks again to Marc @ Mojo for all the help with these tone-tastic, dubiously named firecrackers!

I'm in the process of making a demo LP and ES335 pair of pre-wire kits and will post some pics of those (including said 'Shugz' caps) when they are completed.

Well, had a relatively quiet Sunday morn so made up a couple of LP kits with the new caps:

2 x 550k custom taper CTS volume pots
2 x 500k CTS premium tone pots
1 x 0.015uF PIO (neck pickup)
1 x 0.022uF PIO (bridge pickup)
50's wiring

Hi Folks,

Just a quick update on all this capacitor shennanigans from Shugz-land

I've been working recently with a young, sickeningly talented Blues player, Lewis Hamilton (no, not the one with the silver race car). Lewis is a bit of a gear-head and tinkerer like the rest of us so we've had a bit of fun with swapping pots/ caps and general 'on the road' war stories too, a good lad.

Anyhoo, he has a nice Tribute 50's Gibson Les Paul and fancied upgrading the controls to see if he could get more response from the guitar whilst in a live setting. The complaint was the pots were more like switches and hard to use. I have made this kit tonight up for him:



The spec is:

2 x 550k Custom Taper CTS LS (vol)
2 x 250k CTS Premium LS (tone)
2 x 1950's Grey Tiger reproduction PIO 0.022uF caps made by our own Marc @ Mojo Pickups
50's wiring

Lewis is hopefully going to record with this kit fitted and post up some Youtube clips as well. I'll upload the links as and when the kit is in the guitar and a demo made. He can also be found here too:

I hope to have some feedback from him re this kit soon. More news from me is I hope to have a small website and Facebook page for the kits I do very soon and will update on all that as and when.
