    Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd update this thread for the great and good of MR, hope you don't mind

Website progress for the 'Loomz' kits has been slow but with a good chunk of luck, I hope it'll be on the go very soon or at least have better picttures, kit descriptions/ prices and maybe the odd photo tutorial of kit installs if I have some time. Some other recent developments have included some limited run '917' Shugz PIO 0.015/ 0.022uF caps, see here:

These are made to the same standards of the previous Shugz brand caps and will be around for a short time only but at the same price and offered in the upgrade kits too. These are PIO, why...well, there's no real reason but I like vintage guitars and caps like these were fitted at the time of a lot of those guitars?! I also find them good for reliability and very well made.

An Orange Drop is more than fine with me too I must say and whilst I like these vintage inspired caps, everyone can choose what they like. I also don't aim to overcharge on them too. Yes, they will cost more than a set of the aforementioned Sprague OD's but for a high quality, UK made product I think they are decently priced.

Another update is further work has gone into getting some 'groovy' packaging for the kits, see here. I say groovy but it's really to get away a little from the homemade/ cardboard look if I could! This is 'The Noel' ES upgrade kit in a mock up of the packaging the kits will have in the future.

I'm very pleased with how that all turned out and looking forward to getting the order in for the rest of the packaging. Some stickers to give away with the kits will be on the go soon I hope too.

Last but not least, there's the recently restored genuine 1960 Centralab loaded Les Paul loom I put together. It was fun to take these 4 oldie pots and get them back into a working loom condition again. All were throroughly cleaned, dissasembled, shafts and/ or broken parts repaired or replaced and then all put back together again. All tested well and could indeed go back into service again if required. These pots are all dated to the 27th week of 1960.

I had some rather nice Solar 50's repro 0.022uF PIO caps (found in some vintage 50's LP's) and got the LP loom together as a result. As the pots were old, I didn't go mental with heat from the solder iron so they are a little bit untidy from previous soldering, I hope you'll indulge me there though! I'd say though, there's still 4 old pots here so they could go bang at any stage.

Would I fit them to a gigging/ everyday guitar, possibly not. If I had a nice old mostly original vintage LP or suchlike that saw occasional use, then maybe so. Pic here:

Thanks for looking and hope some of this drivel is of interest!

    Cheers
    Hugh
