    Default Vintage VJ100/V700 (or alternative)

Anyone tried them? Fancy a jumbo but not looking to spend much at all.

A student of mine has a mahogany v300. It sounds and plays ( after a quick tweak ) pretty amazing. Loud, zingy, good dynamics , has an excellent even tone from open chords to barrres. It's not a Taylor, but it's literally more than 1/10th of the price. For strumming chords and and finger picking I can't see how you'd go wrong. See if you can find a place to go and have a whack of 'em. They are tons of fun!

Yeah, I've tried a V300 and they're certainly great vfm, but it's specifically one of the jumbos I'm looking at.

I've got a V700 and it's bloody superb - massive tones and a really nice neck, closest to a slim D profile. Very easy to play and rings wonderfully. It's one of those real 'room-filling' guitars, perfect for strumming and singing along with, but also has a real richness and roundness on fingerpicked notes - especially in the low end.

Much better than an equivalent Epiphone J200, which is more expensive and isn't even solid wood!

Brilliant, exactly the sort of questions I'd ask A mate has a nice Epi J200 so that's a perfect comparison.
