    Default Soldano SLO 100?

Getting some real GAS for an SLO 100. Are they worth the dosh? Is there a crunch channel and a boosted lead channel -I'm not interested in clean really anyway? Saw a guy in a band locally recently and he kinda sounded like he was playing my Cornford MK50. Thought they would sound more awesome than that. Are they just superior hotrodded Marshalls? Whats so special about em. Done the Bogner thing. Now have more GAS and can't get to Soundsgreat to try one out, every time I have time they have none left! Overrated or awesome? Youtube doesn't give the trouser flapping awesomeness I require! Tell me about them you guys wot ave em!!!!

You could also have one made for a lot less, I did, although I had a proper clean channel installed. Best amp I've ever owned. It's a monster of sound, if I had to descibe the sound say it's voiced somewhere between the hot fodder British sound and the U.S. high gain sound. It's more modern sounding than a Marshall though.

I've tried one (unlikely that I'll ever be able to afford one), but bizarrely I preferred its little baby brother - the Jet City JCA50H (basically the SLO, made with cheaper parts and minus the clean channel and bright switch). The SLO had the trademark singing sustain, but the Jet City has a low-end grunt on the normal channel that I just couldn't find on the SLO.

Phenomenal amps, though. If I was in the market for a high-end amp, I wouldn't look anywhere other than Soldano (although the Decatone might be my first choice, for the sake of flexibility).

Horses for courses. If the sound of the SLO is where your headed its probably the best there is. However the quality of build/tone isnt above that of Bogners, Deizels etc - or any of the "modded" classics such as Splawn, Friedman, Cameron etc

I think the SLO is closer to your Cornford than to the Bogners, and its a similar build quality - but it does have its own thing going on. Its a more agressive crunch than Bogners/Messas (in different ways).

That said - Ive only ever tried on once (prefered the Custom Audio I tried at the same time personally) and only heard two in anger - so my experience is perhaps limited.
I would take a great song with Bad tone over Great tones in a shitty song anyday.

I've never played a SLO-100 but I do have a 50w SLO clone (the same in practically every way) built by Toe-Knee on here.

    It's an awesome amp!

Not the most versatile amp in the world, but by using the crunch mode and hitting it with an OD lots of variations in gain can be gotten very easilly.

The lead channel has more gain than practically anyone would ever need and has a very 'musical' sounding character to the gain.

Between that and my Splawn Quick Rod I feel like I'm finished with amps forever.

WE need to hook up sometime. As I said Ive only every played an SLO once so trying a clone would be fun - Ive also never heard a Quick Rob in person either.

Seeing as I have a house in Nottingham now - - - Ummm.

It's where you don't hang round, just get the stuff and out.

I have got to say when ever I see post about an slo nearly everyone who replies either guesses or has only tried one in a shop so I'd have to say a fair judgement would have to be from an owner.
