Question My amp 'what's this thing' question of the day...

at about 1:00 and intermittently throughout can be seen on the combos, to the drummer's left, what appear to be portable barbecues strapped to the front of them.Or, presumably, some form of mic or ( wild guess here) some form of box to isolate a mic within it?

    Just wondered if anyone knew?

If not this is a great bit of performance anyway!

I suspect it's something like this, to try and cut bleed from other sound sources on the stage.

Yeah like Thermionic said, to cut down on spill.

You don't realize how much spill from drums and other intruments get into the guitar cab mics (especially SM poxy 57's) until you have to remix a live gig for DVD or whatever.

TP has always had good sonics, both live and on CD and it's little things like this that help so much

Yes, they do look like Reflection filters or something similar.

Great performance it might be but crap overall sound IMHO. Not a patch on that Fairport gig I mentioned a few days ago!

Ok, but my Litmus test is:
Being registered deaf if I cannot understand the vocals the sound is shit!

You don't have to be a Great Sound Engineer to be aware of the proximity effect and put a HPfilter on the mics!
