Default Classic 30 speaker mod question....

    Hi,

I'm sure I've asked this before, but I'm thinking about putting a jack on the end of the speaker cables that currently go into the amp, this is mainly so that I can use my ht1 with a bigger speaker .... but also so I could possible get an attenuator for the classic..
Does anyone know if this is possible, how easy it is etc ? ...

do you mean the speaker is currently hardwired into the amp, not on a jack?

if you just want to use the ht1 with a bigger speaker, you can get a speaker cable with a jack on one end and spade connectors on the other, award session sells them (around a tenner-£15 iirc). Wouldn't help with letting you use an attenuator with the classic 30 (assuming, as i said, the speaker is hardwired in there), but it'd solve the other problem for very little money.

EDIT: i did find the spade connectors quite tight on that cable, though- it's the kind of thing that, personally, i'd be setting up and then forgetting, I wouldn't be swapping it all the time.

I've drilled a hole in an amp chassis before to convert it to using a jack for the speaker.

It's not difficult but you do need to be careful with all the metal filings from the drilling! You don't want them shorting something at 330V.
